Pub2Pub 2010 Fun Run Start Location Change from Dee Why to Long Reef

Update on Northern Beaches Pub2Pub this sunday 22nd August.  Manly Daily Front Page news advised Sunday’s Pub2Pub Fun Run will now start at Long Reef Griffith Park, due to recent heavy seas opening Dee Why Lagoon.

Race founder Mark Bayfield said an alternative starting venue was essential.  After inspecting matching tide and surf reports, it was decided to shift the starting location for the safety of all our runners… which is paramount.

The Pub2Pub start line will be near the south end of the open park, south of the tennis courts, to maximise the distance to the first street running along Beach Rd across Anzac Ave.

Pub2Pub 2010 Charity Fun Run & Walk from Dee Why to Newport is 13 kms and the date is set for Sunday 22 August 2010. (see course map)

You’ve only got 9 days to fit in as much training  to be prepared before the big Pub2Pub race.

This is the 18^th Annual Pub2Pub Charity Fun Run & Walk which is 13km event along mainly local roads but includes a start on the beach and some parkland – 8am start. The iconic event is organised by The Brookvale Rotary in conjunction with Newport Arms Hotel.  For the walkers it will take approximately 2 1/2 hours to walk.

Guy Leech has some great tips with your training to help you prepare you for this annual event…. limber up with stretches before the race to avoid injuries & have a light meal.  He says its a challenging event and recommends to constantly hydrate yourself.

Note: Minimum entrant age is 11 years old. Unfortunately this event cannot cater for wheelchairs or prams
