Best New Year Resolutions
If you’re anything like me we all make New Year Resolutions….with the best intentions for the year ahead……Losing weight, getting fit & stop smoking are some of the top favourites…But how many of them do we keep?
This is an email I received and I wanted to share it with you…..
Here’s The Thing About New Years…
Every New Year, everybody all around the world get excited about it. Maybe it’s hope of a new beginning, the New Year Resolution, the new goals… the “new” year…
But the thing is…..how many people actually achieved something in the previous year? When we were kids, we were studying in school, it’s easy to see that we are progressing from one grade to another. But when we are adults, what did we achieve this previous year?
Here’s what I think…
It’s great that you feel excited about the new year. Do you still remember when you were all excited about 2007 in 2006?
Hey, what do you know — it’s another year already. Time flies by really fast. Before you get all excited just like last time, why don’t you sit down for a while and think about all the things you did in the past 365 days.
I know people are all into New Year’s Resolution. It’s good. At least you are planning something, you putting yourself to a standard. But before you do that, you need to do something else first…
I know, I am being a spoiler here… While everybody is all excited about the New Year, good bye 2007, confetti and all, I am saying that you need to look back…
You need to. At least for a while…
Well, people forget. You need to look back so you can plan ahead. Think about what you’ve done. What you’ve achieved.
Take lessons in mistakes. And then you can start to plan for something better.
You know what, I am going to ask you to do something. And I am going to do it myself…
I want you to take out a pen and a piece of paper. I want you to write…
[+] Things I Achieved In 2007
[+] Things I Didn’t Finish In 2007
[+] New People I Met In 2007
[+] Books I Read In 2007
[+] Things I Bought In 2007
[+] Proudest Moments In 2007
[+] Lowest Moments In 2007I promise you, when you write those down, you will have a new outlook on 2008. With that new outlook, you are going to enter 2008 with a BANG!
I wish you all the best, and a great 2008.
I don’t know about you, but that definitely helps put 2007 in perspective and help plan for the New Year….I’m off to grab my pen & paper to write mine down & make the best of my New Year Resolutions.
