Warning All Motorists!  Are my car tyres a driving hazard?

I was shocked to learn the truth and I’m sure you will too!  I’m sure if you’re anything like me when that yearly ‘pink slip’ is needed to register your car that all defects are found and fixed.  (At least in NSW as I believe rules change from state to state re yearly requirements - though it makes you wonder why from a safety issue)

Well it’s the same when you buy ‘new’ tyres for your car. Of course we all want safe tyres when we know that the lives of our loved ones and friends can depend on them.

This shocking story by the ABC News reveals in their undercover work and found retailers selling aged tires as new.   I’m sure this video..Aged Tires: Driving Hazard? will make you think twice…. there is a difference between ‘new’ and ‘aged’ tyres… please note that…. I did not say used tyres but aged tyres.

The Aged Tires video also reveals that governments in US & UK are aware of these dangers and that tyres (tires for US) should not be on your vehicle if 6 years old or more…… makes you wonder what are the regulations here in Australia.  Are our tyres dated with the same ‘cryptic code’?  eg    231 = 23rd week of 1991  and  0604 = 6th week 2004

So you may well ask yourself…. Are my car tyres a driving hazard?  Please watch this video: Aged Tires: Driving Hazard? and thank you Susan for bringing it to my attention.
