Who Are The Parkway Pirates

You might well ask yourself….. Who Are The Parkway Pirates? For anyone who drives down the Parkway…. especially at night….you won’t have to worry about running into the Parkway Pirates on that dark & long drive.

Our gorgeous Aussie weather allows us to enjoy an active outdoor lifestyle…. and what better way than to belong to a club like the Parkway Pirates who enjoy…. a spot of Fishing!

I’ll bet…. that a lot of parents who have kids who love fishing didn’t even know this local club existed….They are a family oriented fishing club, fishing in Sydney Harbour and surrounds…..Catering for Mens, Ladies and Junior divisions.

The Parkway Pirates held their second annual Kidz Klassic junior fishing competition recently which was open to children up to 15 years of age.

Just imagine the look on the 34 kids faces who entered the competition after catching a total of 54 fish between them….bream, tarwine, whiting, tailor and flathead. Talk about a licorice allsort!

Catch of the day went to Lachlan Burns with a 34cm bream (Bet I know what they had for dinner!)

As with any competition there are rules but parents/helpers are permitted to assist with baiting, rigging and casting… but … the child must hook and land the fish themselves. (I get all squirmy just thinking about putting the bait on the hook… and…yes… as a parent…I’ve baited that hook many times)

You may have often wondered what swims in Narrabeen Lakes…. When the Pirates had their monthly comp meet sub-junior member……

11yr old Tia Rogers caught a spectacular 7.7kg jewfish!

For anyone who didn’t see the picture in the local Manly Daily…. that fish was huge!! (If I can get a photo I’ll post it here for you to see for yourself)

What was her secret? It took 20 minutes to bring to the boat & Tia’s jewfish was caught on a live Herring using 4kg bream gear…and you guessed it…. Tia’s fish is a new club record! ….Congratulations Tia!!
